Company Event
Summer 2023
Meteomatics is a company committed to the highest in quality, from our world-beating weather API, to our fantastically accurate EURO1k weather model, by way of our meticulously manufactured Meteodrones. But we also recognise that creating such quality products is hard work which deserves celebrating and rewarding, which is why we also commit to company-wide events which bring our entire diverse talent pool closer together.
One highlight of the Meteomatics calendar is the company summer summit, which this year took place in Allgäu in Bavaria. Meteomatics — now a company with over 100 employees — has employees not only at our St Gallen headquarters, but also based out of our Berlin office and our newly opened US subsidiary. Friends and colleagues from over 22 countries came together at the four star Berghotel Jägerhof, to share their cutting-edge work as well as beautiful views, delicious food and plentiful wine with each other.
Day one of the event featured talks from CEO Dr. Martin Fengler, US CEO Paul Walsh, as well as each team at the company. This provided everyone with an opportunity to talk about the developments in their team and their plans for the future, all while enjoying copious coffee and cake. In the evening, after a quick apéro, co-workers sat down to enjoy a veritable gourmet banquet, followed by an evening at the bar. Ideas were discussed; innovations encouraged; and memorable moments conceived.
The next morning, varying degrees of worse-for-wear, everyone emerged in time for a trip to Alpsee Bergwelt, where those that could stomach it jumped on a high-ropes course, swinging triumphantly from tree to tree. (Those that couldn’t simply wandered around, taking in the picturesque scenery and friendly alpacas and nursing their aching heads and stomachs.) After a final hearty lunch, we all said goodbye to our friends, old and new, and headed home for the weekend.
The summer event is not the only such moment Meteomatics employees can look forward to: in the last 12 months the St Gallen branch has also been treated to a LAN party, escape rooms, bowling and many trips to the pub. Additionally, the entire company also convenes annually for a winter summit, skiing in the Swiss Alps.
