US1k
Introducing US1k: Hyperlocal Weather Forecasting for the U.S. with Unmatched Precision
Following the success of EURO1k, which redefined weather forecasting in Europe, we’re now bringing the same cutting-edge technology to the U.S.!
This level of data granularity is unique in the market and gives you a significant competitive advantage for improved planning confidence and risk mitigation, cost savings, operational continuity, resource allocation, and safety for workforce and assets.
US1k will soon be available for business users via the Weather API and MetX.
If you're interested in setting up a Proof of Concept (PoC), now is the time to reach out!
Key Features of US1k
- Geographical coverage: Contiguous U.S. and gulf regions
- Native spatial resolution: 1 km (with further downscaling to 90 m)
- Native temporal resolution: 15 minutes
- Lead time: 48 hours

Anticipate Critical Weather Events with Interdependent Thresholds
With MetX’s new Advanced Thresholds, you can define interdependent thresholds to track complex weather patterns and their impact. This added flexibility enables you to anticipate and respond proactively to critical weather events.
Currently available for areas and lines (GeoJSON), this feature allows you to determine where specific conditions occur. For example:
- Temperature fluctuations: A sudden drop followed by a rise can affect infrastructure, agriculture, or energy demand.
- Precipitation trends: Heavy rain followed by freezing temperatures may lead to icy roads and hazardous conditions.
- Wind variations: Sudden gusts after calm conditions can pose risks for aviation or maritime operations.
Weather Data Quality & Coverage
Continuous Enhancements in Weather Data Quality & Coverage
We’re constantly pushing the boundaries of weather data accuracy, coverage, and reliability — making what’s great even better.
These upgrades empower industries to make faster, smarter decisions, reduce weather-related risks, and enhance operational efficiency across critical activities such as transportation planning, agricultural management, energy optimization, and emergency preparedness.
U.S. Data Coverage
We’ve made significant upgrades to our U.S. data coverage, ensuring higher accuracy and more frequent updates for our customers.
- More Station Data: Now sourced from a denser network, we expanded our portfolio with 6,000 stations providing updates every 5 minutes.
- HRRR Integration: The High-Resolution Rapid Refresh (HRRR) model has been added to the Meteomatics Mix model for U.S. users, offering improved short-term forecasting.
France Data Coverage
We also made significant improvements in weather data coverage and resolution for France, ensuring even better precision for our users.
- Upgraded Radar Resolution: Météo-France radar data resolution has been enhanced from 1000 m to 500 m, offering finer detail and improved precipitation tracking.
- Expanded Coverage to the Antilles and La Réunion: Integrated radar and station data now extend to the Antilles and La Réunion, providing high-quality, real-time weather insights to these regions.
AIFS Single v1
AIFS Enhancements for Energy Sector Mid-Term Planning
We’ve integrated the latest version of the Artificial Intelligence Forecasting System (AIFS), released by ECMWF in February 2025.
This updated deterministic AIFS model offers enhanced performance across several key areas, including more accurate upper-atmosphere variables and improved scores for total precipitation. It also introduces a broader range of output variables, such as 100-meter wind speeds, cloud cover, snowfall, solar radiation, and land-based indicators like soil moisture and soil temperature.
With a forecast horizon extending up to 15 days, the updated model is particularly valuable for professionals in the energy sector. They enable the identification of weather trends well in advance, support more accurate medium-range planning, improve demand and supply forecasting, facilitate the integration of weather-dependent renewables, and enhance risk management in the face of weather-related uncertainties.
Your One-Stop Weather Data Shop
While Meteomatics' focus remains on numerical weather models, such as our in-house developed 1-kilometer resolution models, the integration of AI-based forecasts supports our goal of serving as a one-stop weather data shop, meeting the varied needs of our customers.
High-resolution models like EURO1k and US1k deliver timely, location-specific insights with 1 km resolution and 15-minute updates—ideal for short-term decision-making in weather-sensitive industries. Combined with the extended outlook of AI-based forecasts, we offer a complete solution for both immediate and longer-term planning.
