Post-Processing
Downscaling
Meteomatics employs a dynamic downscaling technique to refine the output of weather models, enhancing its data through post-processing with NASA's global terrain and elevation model. With a spatial resolution of 90 meters, NASA's model encompasses detailed information about the Earth's surface, including elevation data, land cover, and terrain features, on a global scale.
Calibration
When you choose your desired location and opt for calibration, we assimilate all available adjacent station measurements in order to adjust the model data and bring your results closer to reality.
Meteocache — Modeling Weather Data in Real Time
The Meteomatics Weather API is powered by our Meteocache, which is a sophisticated background caching system housing a vast collection of observations. It enables the Weather API to recalculate forecasts using the most up-to-date information on atmospheric conditions.
To enhance the accuracy of weather data, we consider topographical details. Employing a well-established interpolation technique, we integrate the latest weather data from various models with NASA's 90m digital terrain model. This process refines the data, resulting in significantly improved local accuracy.
The Meteocache guarantees the modeling and real-time provision of large volumes of data. By synchronizing the data in both temporal and spatial dimensions, the Meteocache enables the Weather API to efficiently and rapidly respond to data queries, regardless of the size and format of the original dataset.
